Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Statement of Lindsey K Weppler

As a licensee of the Law Society of Upper Canada, I stand by the following principles:

 

•         A recognition that the Law Society is committed to Inclusive legal workplaces in Ontario, a reduction of barriers created by racism, unconscious bias and discrimination and better representation of Indigenous and racialized licensees in the legal professions in all legal workplaces and at all levels of seniority;

 

•         My special responsibility as a member of the legal profession to protect the dignity of all individuals, and to respect human rights laws in force in Ontario;

 

•         A commitment to advance  reconciliation, acknowledging that we are collectively responsible to support improved relationships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in Ontario and Canada; and,

 

•         An acknowledgement of my obligation to promote equality, diversity and inclusion generally and in my behaviour towards colleagues, employees, clients and the public.

Profile

Lindsey's practice primarily involves refugee claims at the Immigration and Refugee Board, appeals at the Immigration Appeal Division, Refugee Appeal Division Appeals, Pre-Removal Risk Assessments, Detention Reviews, and representing clients before the Federal Court.  

 

In addition she is involved in a broad range of immigration matters including Humanitarian and Compassionate Grounds Applications, Family Sponsorships, Labour Market Impact Assessments, and Investor Class Applications.

 

Lindsey has had great success not only in front of the Immigration and Refugee Board and Immigration Appeal Division but also in front of the Federal Court of Canada.

 

Lindsey began her practice at a corporate law firm in Toronto where she was exposed to many different facets of legal practice.  During her time there she was also given the opportunity to work with multiple human rights organizations including the Ontario Human Rights Commission and the Refugee Law Office, Legal Aid Ontario.  

 

After her experiencces in these diverse areas of practice Lindsey chose refugee and immigration law as her area of specialization and joined a boutique Immigration and refugee law firm. 

 

Lindsey then decided to branch out and start her own independent firm in 2014.
